Frisco's newest park officially opened September 19, 2026, at 13770 Teel Parkway near PGA Frisco.
But calling Northwest Community Park simply a "new neighborhood park" undersells it.
The 122-acre project includes more than 10 miles of paved, gravel and dirt trails, dedicated cycling facilities, a 20-acre great lawn, three playgrounds, splash pad, five-acre dog park, zip lines and extensive Blackland Prairie restoration. Frisco, TX
For homeowners and buyers, the opening is also another piece of a much larger story unfolding in northwest Frisco.
What's Actually at Northwest Community Park?
This isn't primarily a sports-field complex.
Frisco designed the park around outdoor recreation and the land itself.
There are more than 10 miles of trails for walkers, runners and cyclists.
Cyclists get a pump track, skills course and Prairie Lookout with two gravity ramps for more experienced riders, plus a smaller track for younger cyclists. Frisco, TX
Families get:
Amenity | What's There |
|---|---|
Trails | 10+ miles of dirt, gravel & paved trails |
Great Lawn | 20 acres |
Playgrounds | 3 |
Signature play feature | 20-foot custom bison |
Dog Park | 5 acres |
Splash Pad | Yes |
Cycling | Pump track + skills course + gravity ramps |
Zip Lines | 2 mini zip lines |
Nature | Restored Blackland Prairie |
Trees | 1,300+ new elm and oak trees |
And yes, I suspect the 20-foot bison playground is going to appear in quite a few Frisco family photos.
Where Is the New Frisco Park?
Northwest Community Park is at 13770 Teel Parkway, north of Panther Creek Parkway.
That's important.
You're near the PGA of America headquarters and the expanding northwest portion of Frisco—not in one of the city's long-established central neighborhoods. Frisco, TX
The park opens 30 minutes before sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset. Frisco, TX
Why Is the Blackland Prairie Such a Big Part of This?
This may actually be my favorite part of the project.
Frisco didn't simply flatten 122 acres and fill it with recreational equipment.
Northwest Community Park is an active restoration project designed around endangered Blackland Prairie.
The city worked with ecologists to preserve existing soils and grasslands while adding more than 1,300 elm and oak trees. Educational elements throughout the park are intended to teach visitors about the prairie ecosystem. Frisco, TX
That creates an interesting contrast with the version of Frisco most outsiders know.
People think of Frisco and picture new construction, the Cowboys, PGA golf, retail and rapid development.
And those things are real.
But now, right beside one of its fastest-changing corridors, the city has devoted 122 acres partly to preserving what North Texas looked like before most of that development existed.
Does Living Near a Large Park Increase Home Value?
This is where I put my Realtor hat on.
Don't automatically assume that "new park nearby" equals a specific increase in your home's value.
Buyers frequently value trails, recreation, green space and proximity to amenities.
But real-estate value remains property-specific.
Distance from the park matters.
Street location matters.
Schools matter.
Condition matters.
Inventory matters.
And the comparable homes buyers can choose from matter.
For some buyers, being able to bike or walk to a park like this could be an important lifestyle feature.
For another buyer, it may barely enter the decision.
So if you're selling a home nearby, I wouldn't simply add an arbitrary "park premium" to your price.
I'd look at what comparable homes are actually selling for—and also at something sellers sometimes overlook:
Which nearby listings expired or cancelled because buyers wouldn't pay the asking price?
Sold properties tell us where buyers said yes.
Expired and cancelled listings can help show us where the market said no.
You need both sides of that story when pricing a home.
What the Park Tells Us About Northwest Frisco
This is the larger real-estate story.
Frisco keeps adding infrastructure around the areas where its next stage of growth is happening.
Northwest Community Park sits near PGA Frisco and the broader northern/western expansion of the city.
That matters when you're comparing different parts of Frisco.
Someone moving here might tell me:
"We want to live in Frisco."
But that's not nearly specific enough anymore.
Established neighborhoods closer to the Dallas North Tollway can offer a completely different daily experience from newer development farther north and west.
That's why I encourage buyers—particularly relocation buyers—to stop thinking only in terms of city names.
Explore the actual neighborhoods. Drive the commute. Find the grocery store. Walk the park. Look at what's under construction.
Then ask yourself: Could I see my ordinary Tuesday happening here?
That's often more revealing than imagining your life from a beautifully staged listing.
Frisco Is Growing Forward and Looking Back at the Same Time
There's an especially interesting connection this month.
Frisco just celebrated its 125th anniversary.
I recently wrote about the strange and wonderful contrast between a city celebrating its cattle-trail origins while simultaneously opening increasingly sophisticated restaurants and entertainment destinations.
You can read that story here:
Frisco Turns 125 the Same Month It Trades an Ice Cream Shop for a Cocktail Lounge
Northwest Community Park fits into that same story.
A city known nationally for rapid growth just spent $40 million building a park that includes cycling infrastructure and playgrounds—but also protects remnants of the prairie that existed before Frisco did. Frisco, TX
That's a more interesting version of Frisco than simply calling it a "fast-growing suburb."

City of Frisco — Northwest Community Park
I have watched North Texas communities change enormously over the years, and this is why I don't think choosing a home should ever begin and end with square footage and finishes.
You're choosing what exists outside the front door, too.
If you're considering Frisco, McKinney, Plano, Allen or the surrounding communities, I help buyers understand those differences so we're not simply finding a house that works.
We're finding the place where your life works.
